Remembering Jeff Buckley, sixteen years on.

A lot's changed for me since May 29 last year. The big thing that's happened, at least in terms of this blog, is following a change in editor I decided to stop contributing to BMA Magazine, both in terms of writing and sub-editing. It was an eventful, productive seven years (never in my wildest dreams when I started out in 2005 would I have thought that I'd get the chance to interview the likes of Tori Amos, Massive Attack and Lamb, amongst many others) but I felt it was time to move on. So that would explain why the posts have dried up considerably.

Other things have changed too: I got a permanent job working in HR for the NSW government, I moved into a sweet apartment in Redfern and am now a proud co-parent of a mischievous young kitten, Jade.

I've actually been in quite a nostalgic mood lately in terms of music, so the anniversary of Jeff's death is timely this year. triple j are holding a Hottest 100 of the last 20 years (which I still need to arrange a shortlist for) and apparently the odds are that Jeff will win, either with Last Goodbye or Hallelujah. I'm sure at least one of those songs will be included in my vote, so I'd be happy with that.

But to return to tonight's theme (change) - regardless of whatever changes are happening in my life, I find time on this night to sit, drink, listen and reflect on what a great man and musician this guy was. I always will.
